Quilts For Kids
From Kathy Little
Quilters By The Sea Community Service Project 2010-2011 ( The only project this year)
For members interested, we will be making quilts for Quilts for Kids:
Mission Statement: Quilts for Kids, Inc. transforms discontinued, unwanted and other
fabrics into quilts that comfort children fighting a life battle with a serious illness such as
cancer, AIDS, as well as children of abuse. Our goal is to link design centers and other
fabric sources nationwide to their communities, so that children in need in those regions
may be served.
Even though there is not a Rhode Island Chapter, this organization does donate to
hospitals and such that serve many Rhode Island children including Boston's Childrens'
Hospital, Shriners, and Ronald MacDonald House of RI located in Providence, RI
The expectation is that you will make a quilt with the kit( fabric for top, binding and backing
- you need to provide batting and thread) that will be provided by the organization along
with a quilt from your own stash. Kathy Little will be ordering and delivering the kits to
members at the December meeting for those committed members. The completed quilts will
need to be given to Kathy Little at the February meeting. If you are not able to attend the
meeting, then arrangements need to be made to get the quilts to Kathy Little before the
meeting.
Please take a look at the attached file for more information on the project and the website
is www.quiltsforkids.org
.
Please contact Kathy Little - klittle1964@yahoo.com to reserve your kit - deadline
November 16, 2010.
If you do not want to commit to making 2 quilts you can pair up with someone to make the 2
quilts( 1 person can make a quilt with the kit and the other from their stash).
Thanks,
Kathy
QBS will supply all necessary batting as a donation from the Dottie Krueger family.
