Quilters By The Sea Current Projects

Creating lap size juvenile quilts to be donated to area shelters such
as Little Flower Home in Tiverton, RI, Lucy's Hearth in Middletown,
RI, foster children at Newport Hospital and other local shelters that
we will be hooked up with via The Linus Project. I am hoping to
have many quilts so we can shower these shelters with quilts for
the little ones that do not have a place to call home. They will help
to keep them warm and cozy.  Finished quilts may be given to:

Kathy Little at 841-9519 or  email klittle1964@yahoo.com.

Quilters By The Sea Community Service in 2008 -2009

We have made and given quilts to the R. I. Veterans Home.

We have made and given individual quilts to a family which was
burnt out of their home.

A few of us gave a talk on quilt history with lots of quilts to enjoy to
the Franklin Court Assisted  Living Center.

We just finished a Large Quilt Show which educates people  about
quilting  and lets everyone enjoy our quilts.

We had a silent miniature quilt auction at our Quilt Show to raise
money for the New England Quilting Museum  in addition to
memorial donations.

We made "ad" donations to various community groups and
arranged for the Portsmouth Middle School Band to raise money
selling food during our Quilt Show.

Our members on their own and through QBS privately donate quilts
to church fairs, Project Linus, Ruth's Place, etc.  See ongoing above.

We adopted a family for the holidays.

We are currently making large amounts of  preemie quilts for a High
School student's project and Project Linus Quilts for Rhode Island
distribution.  Project Linus co-ordinates contributing groups' quilts,
knit blankets, crocheted blankets, etc. with Hasbro Children's
Hospital, Women and Infant's, Ronald McDonald House, various
shelters, DCF,  various counseling centers, etc. Project Linus
distributes over four thousand children's quilts a year just in Rhode
Island.
